The Sipping Shed’s first bottling.
A blend of four exceptional single malts.
Tamdhu, Glengoyne, Glenrothes and the family run Speyside distillery that prefers not to be named (yes, that’s the one!).
Each was a minimum of 6 years old when they were introduced to each other by means of a sherry cask. 6 years later they’d been getting on so well it was time to introduce them to the world at large.
The result was a cracking dram exhibiting all the hallmarks of the distilleries and their famous sherried styles.
The name #Vat One is a nod to the term Vatted Malt Whisky which regulators have decided must now be called Blended Malt Whisky. #Vat Two is sure to be with us some day…
Nose
A fantastic blend of just fours single malts to create the ultimate sherried blend. The sherry is in check, never overwhelming and showcasing the best of each distillery.
Fruit and floral notes dance around spices and a hint of chocolate. There’s a richness evident in the nose that’s indulgent and inviting. Time to dive in…
Palate
Classic sherried style as you’d expect, rich and full bodied. Plenty of dried fruits, candied orange peel, gentle spices and floral notes. Praline, mocha and stone fruits provide additional depth. The profile may be simplistic on paper but this whisky has plenty of depth and is hugely satisfying.
Finish
Super smooth on the finish with the sherry notes taking a final bow. Encore I call in the hope of another pour!
